Cosplay… What's that? For those who have spent the last years on Dagobah's planet, here is in a few words a definition of what is Cosplay: formed by the contraction of the words « Costume » and « Play », Cosplay is the art to costume oneself, most often in a character of Manga, Anime or video games. But imagination has not limits! You can also choose you favourite singer or actor, and even create your own character.

This is Cosplay: creativity, work (yes you often have to create your own costumes, sew them, customize them, it can be a real hobby!), humour and a touch of extravagance... Add an choregraphy de a style or a music, and you obtain the perfect Cosplay , the one you will exhibit on the stage of South Japan Expo and in the alleys of the festival!




The Cosplay at South Japan Expo can take several forms and evolve year after year with new themes and contests. Here are some events you can find at the Parc Chanot :

Standard Show: it is the unique, the one and only, traditional parade! Mixing groups, individual and personal creations, it's the inevitable event of the festival, allowing everybody to parade on a large stage in front of an excited public!

Thematic Show: The principle is the same than for a traditional show, but this time a theme is previously indicated. The themes change depending the festival's contents and the guests! For instance: Special Cosplay for the 10 years of Japan Expo, Clamp cosplay, publisher's Cosplay…

Without forgetting the alleys of South Japan Expo, they also have become an opened stage for Cosplayers, delighted to pose in front of the attendees and photographers!
