Satoshi URUSHIHARA at South Japan Expo
Animator, character designer and Manga artist,Satoshi URUSHIHARA will be present at South Japan Expo for signing sessions and a public conference!
Biography
Born on February 9th 1966 in the Hiroshima prefecture, Satoshi URUSHIHARA is an animator, a character designer and a Manga artist . He works for Office EarthWork. His real name is pronounced in the same way but with a different writing.
In 1983, while he was in 3rd year of technical high school in Miyajima, he met Kinji Yoshimoto with whom he got immediatly well along.
Later on, he sent his candidacy (with success!) for the position of animator on the animation movie Jungle Boy Kenya by the Kadokawa Pictures studios. In the movie, he drawn part of the fight between a rhinoceros and an hippopotamus.
In 1984, once he graduated from high school, he enters in the studios who produced Jungle Boy Kenya: Tôei Animation. He gained experience, then was promoted key animator on the Us-Japanese cartoon Transformers.
In 1985, he left Tôei Animation to work as a freelancer, and specialized in OAV: OAV will become his main activity. Thanks to his role as key animator on Megazone 23 Part II he got recognized by the producer of the AIC Studio, then he worked as a character designer on an OAV for adults, White Shadow (when the OAV was release, his name was kept secret, then announced afterwards on the official website of EarthWork).
In 1989, he works as a animation director and character designer on Legend of Lemnear, a Heroic fantasy-like series. He thus coworked with the director Kinji Yoshimoto, whom he met during his studies. They will combine their efforts on projects like Plastic Little and Kônai Shasei. He acted at the same time as an author, a character designer, animation and stage director on Plastic Little.
In 1990, he funded with Kinji Yoshimoto and Katsushi Sakurabi the Office Earthwork studios (still existing today).
