The Zen garden
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their twinning, the cities of Kôbe and Marseille have created in 2011 a Japanese garden in the botanical garden in Marseille. Landscape gardeners from Marseille and Japan have worked on it, according to the tradition, to convey the harmony between men and nature.
On a 2,000 m² area, this Zen garden is an invitation to travel during which the visitors can discover lakes, for the purifying role of water, a tea house, a little red bridge, as a symbol of transition and spiritual elevation, and many plants and trees from Japan.
At Japan Expo Sud, the City of Marseille allows you to discover a life-size Japanese garden, like the one in the Borély park botanical garden in Marseille. Come and enjoy this place of serenity and botanical diversity during the three days of the festival!
