Mimi no Nikki shows you the life a young Japanese girl who’s come to live in Paris but who has to face a reality she had not expected!

The film

Mimi, a 28 years old Japanese girl, leaves to live for one year in her dream city: Paris!

As she imagines herself pacing the city looking for Mr. Right, she is soon brought down to earth. Facing the unexpected melting-pot of the city, Mimi watches her aspirations vanish and wonders how she’s going to cope with the disappointment. Then she has no choice but to adapt. After all, she may end up enjoying this life...

Bren Ya Ba offers a work mixing romanticism and reality, both surprising and touching. Dealing with the Paris Syndrome, the director tackles a troubling reality which Parisians may not know about.

The mix of animation and live film perfectly brings together French and Japanese culture.
