Biography

Born on January 10, 1964 in Tôkyô, Osamu KOBAYASHI is an illustrator, a director, a scriptwriter, an animator, and also a chara- and Mecha-designer. He worked a lot in animation but also in video games and advertising.

After university, he started a career as a designer and Mangaka. He then worked on the video game Grandia, in 1997, and became a professional of animation, with the help of his brother who is also a designer. Osamu KOBAYASHI was animator and Mecha-designer for one of his brother’s Manga, Dragons Heaven, in 1988.

In 1998, he directed an animation movie for the first time, Table and Fishman, the characters of which are two lovers cursed into a walking table and a fish-headed man. In 2004, he worked on the musical adventures of Beck and its heroes searching for rock and glory, and then goes on working on many animation movies and series.
