The city of Marseille offers you a Japanese garden to discover the beauties of Japanese culture and traditions! Admire an ephemeral setting on the theme of Kodomo no Hi, "Children’s Day", which celebrates the attachment of Japanese families to the children of the home.

It is a reflection of the courage and perseverance that Japanese parents want to instill in their children. The carp, a fish which rises up the rivers against the current in the time of laying, symbolizes those values.

Multicolored carpes of paper or silk are hung in family homes with at least one boy. We often see these koi nobori,  "carps mounted on a mast", floating in the wind: a large black carp symbolizing the patriarch of the home, a red one for the maternal figure, and a carp for each child of the family.

Marseille's garden has 3 paths where a scenography features the famous Japanese koi nobori between each way.

To go further into the experience and always on the theme of kodomo no hi, traditional art workshops are proposed! The focus is on the Japanese poetic art of haiku, the art of calligraphy and the art of the kiriecarved origami, on the theme of carps.

GO SEE THE JAPANESE GARDEN AT K043 BOOTH IN HALL 1 (PALAIS DES ÉVÈNEMENTS)
