Introduction
Tea ceremony in Japan is a traditional ritual that comes from Taoism and has been influenced by Zen Buddhism from China. The monk Eichû, in the 9th century, introduced Chinese tea in Japan, which quickly became very popular. The tea ceremony, or chadô, got popular in Japan in the 12th century. Later, samurai took on matcha, bitter powder green tea, and started spreading the tea ceremony ritual.
Chadô takes great care of the preparation of the tea, in every detail. Drinking tea has to be accomplished in a quiet and sober tea room, and is an experience of serenity.
