Profile

mioyamazaki is a four-person rock band consisting of mio on vocals, taka on guitar, Shunkichi on bass, and Hang-Chang on drums. They formed in Tokyo in 2013. With her overwhelming performance capability and lyrics written about the underside of love that “makes men’s hearts race and that all women empathize with”, vocalist mio has garnered die-hard fans who call her “mio-ler”.

mioyamazaki also developed the promotional game app Majiyami Kanojo (Super Sick Girlfriend) and used their own music for it. This app was ranked number 1 on the App Store and has accumulated 50 million downloads to date. While remaining a popular topic of conversation and shrouded in various mysteries, mioyamazaki made their major debut with Epic Records (subsidiary of Sony Music) during their Christmas show in 2014.

In 2016, they were selected to do the theme song for a late night drama on Fuji Television, and they released their long-awaited first mini album anti-these on November 2nd. It ranked number 9 on the Oricon daily album charts, gradually gaining in popularity.

On April 1st, 2017, they held a one-man show for a huge crowd of 3,000 people at the Hibiya-Yagai-Ongaku-dou (Hibiya Outdoor Music Theater). In July of that same year, they provided the opening theme song noise for the anime Jigoku Shoujo and that single ranked number one on iTunes rock charts.

In addition, they appeared at SUMMER SONIC twice, in 2016 and again in 2017. With the release of their second full album choice, they set out on a countrywide tour where they sold out every show. For their Christmas live in 2017, which also marked their third anniversary, they held a show at Zepp Tokyo, fulfilling a promise they had made to their fans. Tickets for that show sold out in only a few days, and with these sorts of performances, they are quickly turning into a band who you can’t take your gaze off of.

With an ever-growing success, mioyamazaki is becoming more and more popular in Japan. They are now about to charm France, starting with you at Japan Expo Sud! Don’t miss this amazing rock band live during the festival, and come meet them at signings.
