Introduction
Karuta is a Japanese card game whose name comes from Portuguese carta. There are several types karuta cards, the most famous being uta-karuta and iroha-karuta. It is traditionally played on New Year's Day.
It also helps those who are learning Japanese to remember hiragana and some words.
