Suminagashi - 墨流し
Suminagashi is a traditional Japanese meditative art that has been practiced since the 12th century. “Sumi” means ink, and “Nagashi” means to float. It is the oldest known paper marbling technique in the world.
The pattern is created entirely on the surface of the water. The ink is suspended in the water and the design is created by making waves. It is therefore impossible to reproduce the same pattern twice. Each piece is unique.
