Presentation

Amateur musicians of all ages mix sweet and powerful melodies with exceptional instruments: an original instrumentarium made of bamboo, from a which an incredible variety of sounds flows.

Under Makoto YABUKI’s direction (creator of Bamboo Orchestra in Japan and in France), workshops have been organized for public, giving birth to Pousses de Bamboo Orchestra (the shoots of Bamboo Orchestra).

The permanent workshop at Friche La Belle de Mai in Marseille have been bringing together many participants for a few years now. A shared repertoire composed of original works allows to have those amateur musicians together on varied occasions, to perform exceptional concerts.

Musicians of all ages play the angklung (Indonesian bamboo instrument), the také-marimba, the trumpets, and resound in harmony with taiko and slittam.

Pousses de Bamboo Orchestra’s first CD, TAKENOKO, made in Marseille, was released in September 2011.
