Near Tokyo, the town of Chichibu hosts one of the most outstanding yomatsuri of Japan, with impressive floats and a bright illuminated parade. A yomatsuri is a festival happening at night.
This festival has been going on for 300 years to honor the 6 Gods protecting the town. Each one of them is represented by a float lit up with colorful lanterns, and drawn by young people dressed in traditional costumes. Spectacular fireworks light up the sky to the rhythm of taiko and flutes.
